About Me

Hey, I’m Edward Gokmen 👋
I’m a software engineer based in London who loves building things that go fast — whether that’s trading systems, distributed simulations, or little robots zipping around construction sites. I like working close to the customer on loosely defined problems. If you can throw some maths and low level work in, I’m all the happier :)
Over the years I’ve worked across a mix of domains:
- Low latency trading strategies + the infra they run on
- AI for defense, where I ended up inventing a patent for scaling battlefield simulations.
- Startups in robotics and digital twins - primarily focussed on getting distributed sets of cameras to comprehend a large scene (think 10 km2) in real time
- Even a stint in banking, developing non-paramtric anomaly detection algorithms
I like working on things with a clear goal, but no established path to getting there.
When I’m not working I like tasting different types of coffee, learning niche programming languages, card games, running, and kettlebell training.
This blog is where I jot down ideas, experiments, and occasional deep dives into the stuff I’m learning or building. If you’re curious about my professional background, there’s a CV page with all the details. If you want a deeper dive into just the highlights, check out the News page!
