About Me
Hey, I’m Edward Gokmen 👋
I’m a software engineer based in London who loves building things that go fast — whether that’s trading systems, distributed simulations, or little robots zipping around construction sites. I like working close to the customer on loosely defined problems. If you can throw some maths and low level work in, I’m all the happier :)
Over the years I’ve worked in a mix of places:
- Crypto trading, where microseconds really do matter.
- AI for defense, where I ended up inventing a patent for scaling battlefield simulations.
- Startups in robotics and digital twins, hacking GPUs to make fleets of machines and cameras talk to each other in real time.
- Even a stint in banking, trying to teach algorithms to spot weird things humans would miss.
The common thread? I like hard problems that need both math and engineering to crack — and I like seeing code do something tangible in the end.
When I’m not coding, you’ll probably find me reading about distributed systems, tinkering with low-level optimizations, or following where AI research is heading. Outside of tech, I’m into card games, motorbikes, coffee, and climbing.
This blog is where I jot down ideas, experiments, and occasional deep dives into the stuff I’m learning or building. If you’re curious about my professional background, there’s a CV page with all the details. If you want a deeper dive into just the highlights, check out the News page!
